Description of the solution

A surgical guide is designed according to the surgical planning previously carried out in order to define the orientation and depth of the drilling according to the positioning of the implant.

There are three types of surgical guides:
The bone-supported guide, The mucous-supported guide, The dental-supported guide.

All surgical guides are patient specific. The surgical guide consists of a 3D printed acrylic material and metal guide rings integrated into it.

There are three guided surgery options:

  • Guided pilot drill

  • Partially guided

  • Fully Guided

Types of surgical guides

The selection of the type of surgical guide depends on the preference of the dental professional, the patient's anatomy and the planning software available.

Attachment of the surgical guide

To stabilize the surgical guide, Southern Implants fixation pins are available. The drill bit is used to drill through the guide attachment marks. After drilling, insert the fixing pins. It is recommended to use 3 pins for a complete rehabilitation. If a tooth-supported guide requires additional stability, a minimum of 2 pins should be used.
